Q2 2024 Android Performance of Top Carpooling & Ridesharing Apps in the US

In the second quarter of 2024, the ridesharing and carpooling app landscape on Android has seen varied user engagement and download rates, as per the latest data from Sensor Tower. Let's delve into the performance of the top five apps in this segment.

Yango — different from a taxi experienced a peak in downloads mid-quarter with 217K, followed by a dip to 103K towards the end of June. Weekly active users (WAU) followed a similar pattern, with a high of 296K in late April and then a substantial increase to 327K in the last week of June.

inDrive. Save on city rides showed a more consistent growth in downloads, starting at 55K and reaching close to 90K by the end of May, eventually settling at 86K in the last week of June. The WAU for inDrive fluctuated, reaching a high of 2.57M in early May and ending the quarter with a slight rise to 2.66M.

DiDi Rider: Affordable rides saw a steady increase in downloads, from 46K at the beginning of April to 86K by the end of June. The app's WAU showed more variability, peaking at 1.31M in mid-May and again at 1.31M in the last week of June.

DiDi Driver: Drive & Earn Cash had a steady increase in downloads over the quarter, beginning with 25K and ending with 29K. The WAU showed a steady climb from 168K to 188K over the same period.

Lastly, Uber - Request a ride had the lowest download numbers among the top apps, starting at 22K and peaking at nearly 30K by the end of June. The app's WAU saw a dip mid-quarter from 1.16M to 1.11M but recovered to almost 1.19M by the quarter's end.
